 A LOT has been going on in the last week and a half. Many many ups and downs. I learned how to do cornrows in Lily’s hair, but I’m not quite there yet. The kids have been enjoying a cartooning camp, and Lily asked to do more! I hope this is a new outlet for her! We saw a wall of sunflowers at Powell’s and had to stop for a pic. The torch for the Canada games came through whitbourne and ended in bone park with games and a bar b que. The kids both represented the cadets there. Last week at the coffee house with Keith, I stepped out for a phone call and the neighbour’s cat wanted all of the scritches!

This morning I woke up to tire pressure being down in one of my tires. I called and left a message with my mechanic and haven’t heard back. So I picked up ine of these to get me through. It seems to be a slow leak, so hopefully that’ll be it.

Today I started construction on the surround for the post in the kitchen, in as far as measuring out the width of things and taking them to Ryan’s to cut them. We got to watch some doctors who, which hasn’t happened in a WHILE. I had so much report card stuff, and he’a gone a lot of the time to visit his girlfriend. It felt really good to have a hangout night.

Today was the Hickman s car show cosplay event. Such beautiful cars! I found a ford Fairlane, not the same year as my dad’s, but very similar. I slathered myself in sun screen and actually managed to avoid getting burned. I found out yesterday that my divorce is finally official, so Amanda took me out to supper to celebrate. 

When I used to live in Hamilton, my friend up the road and I would get together for game nights. She and her ex and me and mine. There would be nachoes, won ton soup, drinking, and what we all refer to as “boobie dresses”. I had never felt confident enough to wear anything revealing. Nights with Cindy helped me come out of that shell. I still don’t do it often, (this is the second time in 12 years), but I have her to thank for the confidence to wear this. Out. In public.

Today we celebrated Maya’s birthday by going to Petty Harbour, and then had a game of cornhole (Connor and Maya against me. (Well, actually they were playing against each other, and I was throwing all 8 bags back, and adding to their score by colour points). We watched the Sandlot together, and I found out there are two more! Once she went home, I got new zippers to fix my Ladypool cosplay. The zipper on the shin guard went the second time I wore them. Now I have heavy-duty zippers to replace them.

I’ve been working on the new “trophies” for the Swashbuckler cannonball toss. This is the kids’ one. I also realized my breakfast this morning looked like a disgruntled duck. I also saw this gorgeous blue dragon tattoo. One day…

Today Lily had another appointment so we went to a couple of places in town for fun. We had to pick up boxes for my class, didnmt find them, but we saw a couple of neat things we didn’t buy. Some heavy old keys at Dollarama. Reminds me of another special old key I carry with me. I love the way they look. Also. Lily saw a scented candle that was TOBACCO and vanilla scent. Like WHO would ever WANT that stink in their place? Then we went to Lester’s Farm to see the animals. They have peacocks now! Lily said “Mom, they’re YOUR colours!”
